“What if”
The phrase or question,
Over used,
But to tell
A feeling…
It is perfect.
The question will forever be in the mind
Of the lovers who once were,
Whether or not the feelings still dwell inside the heart and more,
There it lies, only stirring in moments of desperation-
Or sudden regret.
The question is simple,
The answer:
infinitely complicated.
A myriad ways of questioning-
All starting with the same,
unanswerable approach of…
“What if”
Alas, how can one respond?
How can one answer a question,
More like a statement,
That unearths the deep emotion of a love,
Buried by the ones who had everything…
Love is everything.
Can there only be one fate?
Only one love?
Only one time to be complete?
And there, the uncertainty subsists-
The question,
Knowing its power,
Arises as if in mockery
And asks,
“What if?”
The thousands of doubts,
Thousands of blissful memories,
-Never the painful, most convenient-
And thousands of pure,
Senseless,
Vain,
Hopes take breath and thrive…
“For what reason?”
Incredulously asked.
The “what if’s” can never be.
…Or can they?
What’s done is done.
…Or is it?
History never repeats itself.
…A lie.
And then in the end of
The battle
Within the heart,
Within the soul,
Passion rings through
The bloody path of
Ambiguity,
And asks with its mighty force
The fiery
Question-
Seemingly unanswerable-
In the hearts
Of all who ever loved…
What should happen if all I hoped,
If all I wanted,
If all I dreamed,
Should come true?
The question itself does not
Stand alone,
But in balance.
The hopeful and wondrous side of failure stands with pride,
With appalling arrogance,
A question with many answers-
What should I do?
